One of the goals of the All Hallows’ Library Service is to connect students with new information sources and technologies and also with associated professionals in our community. On June 2nd, students from QUT’s Aeronautics and also Girls in Engineering Making Statements (GEMS) clubs visited AHS at lunchtime to speak to the girls about drones, coding and engineering. The drone industry is already big business, and not only for design and manufacture. Three of them are smaller mini-drones that can be programmed with block coding. Drones can be used to promote learning in many subjects. AHS has several experienced drone operators and the library will be working with these staff to provide further opportunities for interested students to learn more about drone technology.
Rationale School Library Makerspaces
This week in our Library Makerspace. Our Makerspace is part of our library program and thus connected in many ways to learning at our school. The Makerspace is a place, but it also connects ideas, people and other places, and in these ways it extends beyond its physical boundaries, both virtually and online, and to other parts of the school, and also beyond the school.
